Everton director of football Marcel Brands is set to leave the club.

It is understood that talks are underway for the 59-year-old to leave his post ahead of Monday night’s game against Arsenal at Goodison Park, live Air sports.

Everton have yet to make an official comment.

Kick-off at 8:00 p.m.

Brands previously worked as director of football at PSV and took over the role of Everton from Steve Walsh in 2018.

The Dutchman has come under intense pressure in recent weeks – along with other members of Everton’s hierarchy – and the situation escalated after the Merseyside derby loss on Wednesday when he was verbally confronted by the fans after the game.

Everton have not won a league game since defeating Norwich on September 25 and have fallen to 16th in the Premier League table.

They have collected two out of 24 possible points and are five points above the relegation zone.

After playing at Arsenal, Rafael Benitez’s side traveled to Crystal Palace and Chelsea before hosting Leicester on December 19.
